A MESSAGE FROM 7th Art BOARD PRESIDENT FRANK ROBINSON
Dear Cinema Lover,
I hope you will join me in supporting a local organization about which I care very deeply. Even before I became the president of the board, I understood what an important community resource we have in Cinemapolis.
What is Cinemapolis? The first answer is simple: we are a first-run movie theater located in the heart of downtown Ithaca, specializing in independent, foreign, and locally produced films. But more than that, Cinemapolis is a non-profit community center where the art of film is used to enrich people's lives, grapple with and illuminate contemporary issues, and, of course, to entertain.
As you might know, with the end of 35mm films from our distributors, we have recently completed the required upgrade of our five auditoriums with state of the art digital projection and audio equipment, and we have donors like you to thank for that success. With this new technology in place, Cinemapolis can continue to present more than 150 exceptional films each year. However the revenue generated from ticket sales only covers 70 percent of our annual operating expenses.
To keep providing the community with opportunities to see independent, foreign, and locally produced films at an affordable ticket price, we are asking for your support. Our annual fund goal for this season is $50,000. Reaching this goal is crucial for Cinemapolis for a number of reasons:
We need your help to reach our goal. With a contribution of $75 or more, you become a card-carrying member of Cinemapolis. Your tax-deductible gift to our annual fund will help us continue to show the very finest in new films that entertain, educate and enhance the quality of life in our region.
President, Board of Directors
Tax-deductible donations can be made on line below, or simply sent to Cinemapolis, 120 E. Green St, Ithaca, NY 14850.
